Vidya Bhushan Rawat,
Managing
Trustee, Director looking after the activities of the organization
is a writer, author and filmmaker. He has so far written four books
and made around 10 documentries on issues such as Ayodhya cultural
heritage, Tsunami relief and discrimination, legacy of Dalit
movement and issues of land rights and food security. Widely
traveled Rawat has been in the human rights movement for over 15
years and was closely associated with Dr Mulk Raj Anand and Justice
V.M. Tarkunde. He has written extensively on the issue of
Dalit Rights, humanism, and human rights. Rawat is a radical
humanist, a freethinker and has wider mass contacts. He conducted a
15 days foot march in Bundelkhand region in 2002 and now he planning
another foot march on the issue of the hunger and starvation in the
four districts of Uttar-Pradesh scheduled from June 1st , 2007.
Prof D.Prempati,
formerly with Delhi University, he
is an intellectual activist who has traveled a lot inside as well as
outside India. A very effective speaker, Prempati expertise in Dalit
and backward class issues.
Dr Yoginder Sikand :
A very active writer, Yoginder Sikand studied
in JNU Delhi before going to Leeds University and later at Leden, in
the Netherlands for his post doc. He is now in the Jamia Hamdard
University, New Delhi. An acclaimed author and authority on Sufism
in India, Yoginder Sikand is a respected name among the young
scholars in India. His work on shared cultural legacy in India is
highly appreciated by the intellegentsia.
Namita Rawat :
Namita came in the activism field in
Lucknow where she started working for the rights of people with
disability. She has been very sensitive on this issue and has
traveled on various fact finding missions of the SDF in India.
Sujatha
Surepally:
Sujatha is teaching in Kasturba Women’s
College, Hyderabad. An active worker in the Dalit movement, Sujatha
has been instrumental in organizing the first ever Dalit women’s
Conference in Andhra Pradesh. A strong votary of human rights,
Sujatha is providing alternative models and grassroots network to
SDF’s work in Andhra Pradesh and other parts of the country.
Shah Imran Ahmed :
Imran has been a journalist with
print media and had covered a large number of events of the SDF in
the past. He is a social activist of his own and now he is working
with electronic media and give time whenever required to the
organization.
Administrative Support:
Dhirendra Singh Negi,
looks after the accounts sections of the SDF. He is also involved in the administrative management of SDF and do make
field visits whenever required.
Raj Kapur Rawat, lives in Ghazipur Uttar-Pradesh. A
master degree holder from BHU, Rajkapur comes from scavenger
community and is a coordinator for SDF’s work among the scavenger
community in Uttar-Pradesh. He is running several women center in
Ghazipur for empowering women from his community as well as
spreading awareness regarding their human rights.
Ms Rehana Begum is attached to SDF from the very
beginning. A farmer woman who changed many lives in district
Saharanpur, Rehana is a very strong woman who fought against
adversity all the time. Currently, she is looking after SDF’s work
at Gangoh town of district Saharanpur among the Gujjar Muslim women
where she teach the women, educate their children and also work
about their human rights.
Subedar Jasram is an old associate of SDF. He has
been fighting for the land rights of about 150 families in Kashipur,
Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar district of Nainital ( Uttaranchal). SDF
has been involved in the area from the last five years and is
planning a land literacy programme in the region.
Mr
Ram Chandra Prasad
: Ram Chandra Prasad is a Dalit right activist working among the
Mushahar community in Deoria and Kushingar region of Uttar-Pradesh.
He is the key person behind formation of Uttar-Pradesh Land
Alliance. Ram Chandra Prasad also formed Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar
Gramodyog Sansthan and individually is part of the SDF and UPLA
team. Kirti Singh : Kirti
Singh has done her masters in Hindi Literature from Delhi
University. This is her first assignment in the social sector. She
has already travelled to eastern part of Uttar-Pradesh during the
land rights workshops. Presently, she is looking after documentation
work of the organisation.
